Earlyact First Knight Implemented In Lake Travis Schools_44176

Developed by Rotarian Chris Byrd and Founder and Executive Director of Knights of the Guild, Randall Parr, EAFK developed into an unprecedented character education program that would put Rotary ideals into the daily academics of mainstream K-8 education for the first time ever. The EAFK approach to teaching character education creatively integrates the instruction of noble character traits with the exciting theme of gallant knights and chivalry.

There is a huge ethical impairment in this country. When one hears, watches or read the news and look at popular culture these days, one sees people who are hardly role models for our kids. There are people in politics, sports and entertainment that are sending the wrong message to the children of this country. The way to reverse that is by catching children early in life and that is exactly what EarlyAct First Knight does.

In many schools across our country, fake uggs boots, we see bullying, dishonesty, irresponsibility, disrespect, hatred, cheating, jealousy, greed, and a lack of tolerance of others. This sort of behavior can manifest itself outside the schools through things like substance abuse, crime, gangs and violence. We are even seeing kids attacking other kids and posting videos of the assault on youtube and other video sharing websites. In other schools, we see conceit, arrogance and elitist behavior. All of this has to stop and EarlyAct First Knight can help build the kind of moral and ethical ideals in our children early in life so that they can be of better character as young adults and beyond.

Students from Kindergarten through eight grade have in their daily curriculum a ten minute lesson, cheap hermes birkin, discussion or activity on ethics and character. In addition, there is an EAFK community service club at the schools and all students in the school can become members. The Rotary motto of Service Above Self is taught to the children at EAFK Club meetings. Students recite the Rotary Four Way Test every day during school and at each bimonthly service club meeting.

Lakeway Elementary and Lake Travis Middle School both implemented EAFK in January, 2009. They are the first schools in Rotary District 5870 to have EarlyAct First Knight Clubs. The show on January 23 had the kids completely engaged. Sir Randall had the students attention the entire time and worked character, service and Rotary into the program masterfully. He even had the students and teachers recite the Four Way Test for the first time ever. The program was absolutely inspirational to watch and listen to.

At Lake Travis Middle School (LTMS), Sir Randall has been coming to school-wide assemblies every Thursday for three weeks. These assemblies are part of what was already planned to be a 10 week program. At each assembly, fully armored, chanel ceramic j12, Randall talks about a character trait and he tells a story about a knight who exemplified that specific character trait. The kids sit listening, absolutely captivated by what they hear and eager for more.

At each LTMS assembly, Randall also talks about the garments and armor that knights wore. He talks about the weapons of the times and the conditions. He usually gets a student to volunteer to come up and model a piece of equipment. One week it was a boy modeling a jousting helmet. One week it was a girl modeling chain mail as protection for a knights head. While the kids are being thoroughly entertained, they are learning and they dont even seem to realize that they are learning about service and character.

Once a month there will be school-wide Knighting Ceremonies. The first at Lakeway Elementary will be February 27. Students will be recognized achievements that involve ethics, character or noble deeds. These ceremonies will be emceed by Rotarians. Students can achieve the ranks of Page, Squire or Knight. Not only will students, faculty and staff be present, but parents will be invited. These ceremonies will not just recognize students, they will be a way to get Rotary more exposure in the community.

For a typical EarlyAct First Knight Club, there will be around 90% or more of students in the school participating in the EAFK service club. We, as Rotarians, need to roll this program all through our District. We need to roll it out all over the state and we need to encourage clubs throughout the country to buy in. If we can get EarlyAct First Knight rolled out throughout the country, replica rado watches, think of what our kids can be like in 10 years. Think of the impact they can have in college and beyond.

E-learning- The Pros And Cons_34474

The field of teaching has become revolutionized with the concept of E-learning. What is E-learning? E-learning, (which is also known as electronic learning), is when computers are used to assist in the learning process. The concept can be expressed in a variety of ways including through use of separate software, utilization of the Internet or even simulated 'virtual' environments. This article will discuss each of these aspects of E-learning.

Before the Internet became popular, E-learning was done through special software programs known as 'edutainment.' As its namesake would indicate, E-learning through edutainment involved teaching people things while also entertaining them. Popular edutainment titles included Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing and The Miracle Piano System. In its heyday there were edutainment programs that allowed for E-learning through both computers and video game consoles. Today, E-learning through edutainment has died down, though it has been revived a little bit through Leapster. This is a video game system that features edutainment for children in elementary school.

So, if E-learning through edutainment has lost popularity over the years, what is the current venue used for this method of education? The answer is the Internet. With the availability of the Internet, E-learning goes in a direction that edutainment could not. This direction involves interactivity with a professor. In a typical Internet E-learning setup, professors communicate with their students through message boards, chat rooms and e-mail. In fact, Internet E-learning is so effective it is possible to earn a high school diploma or a college degree right from the comfort of your own home. Of course, this is only if you want to take Internet E-learning this far. Internet E-learning can also be used for less intense forms of learning such as tutoring or research for academic papers.

The other form commonly used for E-learning is through interaction with a simulated virtual environment. This involves placing students in a computerized scenario where they have to use both their wits and knowledge of whatever subject they are learning to successfully achieve the simulation. E-learning through simulated virtual environments is commonly done for helicopter or airplane pilots, who may have to fly a 'plane' through virtual airspace sometime during the course of their training. It is also used in the military. In terms of individual usage on personal computers, there aren't too many simulated virtual environments available. And the ones that are would be more in the realm of edutainment, as an 'official' simulated virtual environment must have both realistic controls and a 3D environment. Granted, personal computers can produce 3D graphics, but they cannot provide the types of controls that are available with industrial-grade simulated virtual environments.

In conclusion, E-learning can be done through software, the Internet or through simulated virtual environments. Whichever method you choose for your E-learning needs, you will find that the E-learning process in general is much more convenient than traditional classroom teaching. Whether you are learning through edutainment software, chatting with a professor in an online classroom or virtually flying an airplane, with E-learning you can learn at your own pace at your own time. You can even have a little bit of fun in the process. Indeed, no other concept has revolutionized people's academic experiences as E-learning.

Ditch The Usa And Earn Your College Degree In Australia Instead_40294

If you are a student who is considering college in the United States, it can be very frustrating. The costs of attending college are rising, and financial aid and scholarships are often less available than they were even a decade ago. Many students decide to bag it in the USA and instead attend an overseas college in Australia. The currency exchange rate is favorable, and many of the top universities in the world, particularly those offering business degrees, are located in Australia. The additional benefits that come from having a global worldview brought about by your studies overseas puts you ahead of the pack in terms of finding employment when you return to the United States or Canada.

Currency rates are pretty good at the moment for United States students to attend an Australian college. Every US dollar is currently worth $1.09 in Australian dollars, so your US money goes farther in Australia towards educational costs. Also factor in the fact that Federal financial aid, including grants and loans obtained through your home college, can be used toward paying for an Australian college degree program, which you can use to your advantage to leverage that money due to the favorable exchange rate to work more in your favor in terms of paying for school.

World-renowned educational opportunities are also available to you when you attend college in Australia. One such example of many is Australian National University in Canberra. This university has been rated a top university in Australia on numerous occasions by the Times Higher Education Supplement as well as the Newsweek International Top 100 Global Universities ranking. Noted for its research, it is a member of the prestigious International Alliance of Research Universities, which includes the University of Oxford and Yale University. If you are interested in a business degree, you will want to learn about the Graduate Management Association of Australia, which publishes a listing of the top rated MBA programs available in this country. Another top school, Griffith Business School, located in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast, received in 2008 the elite international accreditation for business schools from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, and is now part of the fewer than five percent of worldwide business schools that have received this honor.

One of the best results of an overseas education is the concurrent cultural immersion that you get to experience. Businesses in a worldwide marketplace are looking for new employees that can bring a multicultural perspective to work, and students that participate in a college degree program from Australia are well on their way to finding a great job, as well as making an impact in the workplace from their overseas educational experiences.
